Eleanor Marsh at the bench in the Testbury workshop

Eleanor Marsh, your joiner in Testbury

I trained as a cabinetmaker and spent my first ten years in a restoration workshop, where I learned that good joinery is mostly patience.

I build everything in our own workshop because it is the only way I can vouch for every joint. I take on fitted furniture, kitchens, staircases and garden rooms, and I decline work where speed matters more than finish. I visit and design every project myself, and nothing is built until you have approved the drawings.

What clients say

“The drawings were so clear we changed nothing once building started. The fit against our crooked chimney breast is flawless.”

Where we work around Testbury

Testbury

Fitted wardrobes and library walls for Testbury’s Victorian terraces, made a few streets from the workshop.

Hollinwood

Hollinwood’s 1930s semis suit bespoke kitchens that open up the back of the house without losing its character.

Marlow Heath

In Marlow Heath we build staircases and balustrades for the larger detached houses around the common.

Chapel Green

Chapel Green cottages often call for panelling and doors made to measure, as no two openings match.

Redfern

Redfern’s long gardens are well suited to timber garden rooms and pergolas built to the plot.

Aldwick

Aldwick’s period homes keep us busy with sash window repair and careful joinery restoration.

We travel further for larger commissions, including whole-house fitted joinery and staircases.

Questions we are often asked

What does a consultation involve and does it cost anything?

A consultation is a conversation at your home or in the workshop, usually about an hour, where we talk through the space, the style and your budget. It costs nothing and carries no obligation. If you want to go ahead, the next step is measured drawings.

How much does a bespoke commission cost?

Fitted wardrobes typically start from £3,500, staircases from £6,500 and kitchens from £18,000. Every commission is priced from drawings, so you see a written quotation before you commit to anything.

What is your current lead time?

Our current lead time is about 8 weeks from signed drawings to fitting. Larger kitchens and staircases can take longer, and we confirm dates in your quotation.

Do you design the piece as well as build it?

Yes. Eleanor designs and draws every piece herself, so the person you meet is the person who builds it. You approve the drawings before any timber is cut.

Do you work in period homes and listed buildings?

Yes, regularly. We match existing mouldings, scribe to uneven walls and floors, and advise on listed building consent where it applies.

What guarantee do you give on your joinery?

All our joinery carries a 10-year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. Because everything is made in our own workshop, any repair is handled by the people who built it.
